GPS or Global Positioning System is a technology which helps determine the precise location of a vehicle, person or object to which a GPS Tracking unit is attached. Like all other technological advances, GPS Tracking also has its pros and cons.
Looking at the positives, GPS Tracking helps owners can track their pets using GPS trackers in order to make sure they don’t get lost. Truck and other auto transport company owners can track their fleet and know the precise location of where each of their trucks or vehicles are at any given point of time. This also enables scientists and wildlife researchers track the movements of animals or birds using the GPS Wildlife Tracking System.
However, on the downside there have been serious privacy concerns being raised. It is now being widely reported that people have started using GPS Tracking Technology to track spouses suspected of cheating in a relationship. As per the fourths Amendment, using GPS trackers is legal in USA and does not require any prior permission or approval from the police or any other government authority. This raises serious concerns of invasion of personal privacy. Hopefully, governments across the globe will take notice of this and implement laws that restrict the use of GPS tracking technology.
