Songbird Music player

Songbird is an open source music player for Mac ( it is also available for Windows and Linux ). It is new application still being actively developed but if you are adventurous you can give it a go. It can play various audio formats such as OGG, ACC, WMA and may others. Unique future is that it can detect audio files such as MP3 directly from the web and you can play it and even add it to the library for future playing.

Extensions ( Add-ons ) are also supported so check out what suits you and download it from extension repository. I like add-on that allows you to use USB mass-storage devices with Songbird.

The look and feel of songbird can also be changed easily to match the taste of an individual using the software. At the time of writing this post, I see that there are well over 50 feathers, and the number grows almost daily with the addition of more users and artists designing the add-ons. That is the advantage of an open source software. You get 1000’s of man hours of development absolutely free of cost.

As said this app is still in development but the future is bright for this app in my opinion. And above all it is open source ! And we like that !
